NEUROLOGICAL SYMPTOMS

The Borrelia bacteria easily penetrate the blood-brain barrier and can cause neurological and psychological symptoms. The disease is then recognized as neuroborreliosis. The onset of neuroborreliosis may be delayed or immediate, and the course ranges from mild to severe. The infection can be affecting both the central and peripheral nervous system. The severity of symptoms occurring when the central nervous system is infected depends on the condition of the immune system of the infected person. The type of Borrelia bacteria and the time that has elapsed since the infection with the Lyme spirochete are also significant. Symptoms associated with neuroborreliosis arise from the location of the disease process. Early neurological symptoms are mainly mild headaches. In the late stage of the disease, there may be exacerbation of symptoms and the appearance of peripheral polyneuropathies, paresis, peripheral nerve inflammation and/or spinal roots, benign encephalopathy, cognitive disorders and mood resembling dementia, symptoms characteristic of depression, most often emotional lability, irritability, fatigue, problems with concentration and memory and sleep disorders, psychiatric symptoms such as anxiety disorders, dysphoria and many others. Below there are herbs recommended by Buhner to help correct the neurological symptoms:
